"Healthcare fot All? YES!"

Should the federal government provide healthcare for all citizens who cannot afford their own?

I think the answer is clear; Yes! There is a serious lack of priority in this county when our budget for defense is great than that of our public healthcare. When our priority is fighting wars across the globe, when the real suffering is happening right here. The unheard suffering of those living in fear because they can't be sick, or fall and hurt themselves, or get a cavity because they might face financial ruin trying to pay off their medical bills. Healthcare in this country is a privilege, while it should be without question a right. It happens not only on a federal level but a local one too. For instance when Governor Pawlenty refused federal funding for healthcare amounting to $800,000 to instead using state taxed money to match rather then take the FREE money. As we continue to struggle to find the optimal solution to this ever pressing issue, people continue to lead lives of silent fear and personal suffering.

"Interracial Marriage then; Gay Marriage Now. When will we learn?"

It seems America likes to always be in contradiction with its self. America stands for the land of the Free and the home of the Brave. Yet there always seems to be the not so free, and the home of the Scared. Since the very start of this country there has been an oppressed people living on these lands. It started with the natives who were betrayed and brutally treated by the early settlers from over seas. Then those brought forcibly to be enslaved and treated worse then cattle. And the list goes on with time from the natives, to african slaves, to women, to Jews, and now more prevalent then before,  the gays. In the 1960's the greatest issue attacking marriage was that a person of african american decent couldn't legally marry a white person. It was ignorance, and fear that was the driving force of the prejudices held by those against interracial marriage. And though it seemed that society would never allow such a thing to happen, we learned to see how wrong and unjust it was to take away the rights of any person to marry the person they love, no matter the color of their skin. 

Now in the 21st century there is again another kind of fear that has been implemented into the minds of the people that prevent them from seeing the wrong and unjust laws that keep fellow americans from achieving the fundamental rights of all americans, to strive for freedom, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. How can you feel free to pursue happiness when you live in a society that condemns your happiness has less then, or not equal to that of your neighbor? We need yet again to become brave and fight for what is right so that all can say that this land is the land of the truly free and the most brave of all.
